Prescriptions for medications that are taken daily in an
ongoing manner are generally written with enough refills to last until your
next appointment (or longer in some cases). Each time you refill your
medication, please check to see how many "refills" are left on the
prescription. When the number of refills is zero, then you know it is
time to schedule an appointment if you have not done so already.
Please then schedule an appointment at least 1 week before your medication
runs out. Appointments are necessary for patients on medication to
ensure the medication is still needed and doing it's job well without
significant side effects.
Prescriptions for narcotic
pain relievers require an appointment.
